So, one aspect of what we do is lifestyle photography, which is all about capturing and enticing your audience.
When it comes to fashion, you might create a setting that is relevant to your target audience, with models that fit your target customer.
You are grabbing their attention and wanting them to like the clothes they’re seeing, depicted in an attractive scene that they would love to be living in themselves.
Then, it comes to a buying decision.
Clothes are worn 3-D so, before you buy, you want to see clothes showcased in a realistic form to give you the best impression of how they’ll look on you.
But, using models requires a larger budget and each model is only representing one look, which could put someone off buying the item if they look completely different and can’t visualise themselves in the same clothes.
At this point, your customer will want to focus on the detail of the item of the clothing and the best way to do that is in a neutral environment, without a model, on a plain white background.
Cue the mannequin.
It is much cheaper than using models, and can be quicker to shoot which means less studio time and less cost to you.
When it comes to a buying decision, it is also the most persuasive and impactful way to show off the clothes – the neutral representation of no models, on just a clear white background, means that the item of clothing is the only focus.
Your buyer can see themselves in the clothes and, because of the production process which we’ll explain more about later, they can see every detail of the item of clothing.
Also, this style of photography means that we can give you 100% consistency.
Whether we are shooting 20 or 200 items of clothing, the positioning and lighting will be exactly the same, building a library of items on your website that promotes your brand professionally and impressively.
When people are scrolling through quickly, it would be immediately obvious, and jarring, if the style of the images changed. This way, you can be assured of a streamlined, fluid, crisp and consistent browsing experience.
And, as your customers have everything they need to make an informed buying decision, this naturally leads to a higher conversion rate and more sales for you.
We always ask our new clients to send us a sample, so that we can do a test shot for you free of charge.
It might sound like an extra step in the process that could slow things down but it actually speeds up the process - we quickly get a good understanding of your items, we can make sure we’re on the same page and that we’re giving you exactly what you want.
Then, when we’re doing your main shoot for your multiple items, we can hit the ground running and work quickly and efficiently, which is more cost-efficient for you as you get the best value out of your booked studio time.
You are very welcome to join us in the studio for the photo shoot, and be as hands on as you like. Often, clients tell us coming to the studio is their favourite part of the process as it’s a fun environment and a fascinating experience seeing what goes on behind the scenes.
Alternatively, you can ‘be with us’ virtually if that is more convenient for you. We will make sure you’re still part of the process, sending you shots as we go along, and you can art direct remotely.
The photography process itself involves us prepping the garment by pressing or steaming it, dressing the mannequin and styling the clothing.
We can take multiple photos from different angles, including front and back, and we also take photos of inner areas of the garment, like the label and the inside bottom hem, for us to then combine the photos in post-production, removing the mannequin and focusing the eye fully on the item itself.
Through this method, and the re-touching, even adding shadows, we are able create a really genuine 3-D appearance in a lifelike image.
We then upload the images for you to view online before you publish them on your website and across your social media platforms.
